The Position
MSJ is seeking a full-time paralegal/legal assistant to work out of our Morgantown office, supporting three attorneys in our immigration and civil litigation practices.

Who You Are

While no candidate will bring every qualification desired, the below are representative of the knowledge and skills that MSJ seeks for this hire:

  • Bilingual (especially in English and either Arabic or Spanish)
  • Paralegal experience or training in immigration and/or civil litigation
  • Excellent attention to detail, typing, and proof-reading skills
  • Ability to multi-task & excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to draft basic legal notices and documents
  • Knowledge of immigration forms and procedures
  • Knowledge state and federal court forms and procedures, including use of CM/ECF
  • Comfort with technology, including case management software, Adobe Pro, and Microsoft Office
  • Dependability and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience working with low income, high needs, or marginalized people
  • Knowledge of West Virginia social service system
  • Lived experience with racism, poverty, and/or other inequity
  • Energetic and ability to thrive in a fast-past environment
  • Commitment to social and racial justice

Compensation & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. Salaries range from $35,000 to $55,000 for an extremely qualified individual under the metrics above. Benefits include health, vision, dental, and life insurance as well as a flexible spending account and/or health savings account, and paid leave.
