OTHER INTERNS
Mountain State Justice hosts other types of interns, including Masters of Public Administration and Bachelors/Masters of Social Work interns for course credit. If you are not a law student, but are interested in an internship with MSJ, please contact Lindsey Jacobs, Advocacy & Access Program Director, at (304)344-3144 or lindsey(at)msjlaw.org.
POST-GRADUATE LEGAL FELLOWSHIPS
Mountain State Justice sponsors rising 3L students and recent law school graduates who are interested in applying for post-graduate fellowships such as those hosted by Skadden, Equal Justice Works, and Justice Catalyst. While we welcome your project ideas, we are particularly interested in sponsoring fellows with interest in developing projects in the following areas:
(1) The criminalization of poverty across West Virginia communities, including ordinances banning panhandling and camping, which target unhoused populations. This project could also address court fines and fees that disproportionately impact poor West Virginians.
(2) Pushing back on the de-funding of public schools in West Virginia. This project could include developing litigation under the West Virginia state constitution, and/or partnering with fellow organizations on strategies to challenge school vouchers.
(3) Representation of low-income clients facing increased lot rent in manufactured housing parks, resulting from the sale of such parks to out-of-state investment corporations.
Anyone seeking to pursue a post-graduate fellowship with Mountain State Justice for the fall of 2026, should reach out as soon as possible, but no later than June 30, 2025. Potential fellows should contact Lydia Milnes, Deputy Director, at (304) 326-0188 or by email at recruiting(at)msjlaw.org
